AMELIA HILTON

 Singer-Songwriter | Poet | Content Producer | Podcast Creator | Psychology Graduate

About Me

Originally from Brighton, I moved to Glasgow in 2018 study at the University of Glasgow.
In 2022 I graduated with first-class honours in Psychology (Master of Arts, Social Sciences) and received the Paddy O'Donnell award for Academic Citizenship.

For my qualitative research dissertation, I interviewed seven participants and analysed their data using IPA analysis. Titled 'An exploration of how having ADHD and using ADHD treatment influences the student identity construction of Higher Education students', my research received an A2 grade ( 21/22 Grade Points) and it is my proudest achievement to date!

Alongside my studies I was elected President of GU Psychology Society for 2020 - 2021 term and created an original podcast, Brainscape. I have planned, scripted, hosted, produced, edited and marketed almost 30 episodes of Brainscape, aiming to make complex findings from academia enjoyable and accessible, and explore their implications for everyday life.

Following the success of my podcast, the Glasgow University Psychology Department created a Social Media Internship for me to design and launch social media projects to increase their outreach. From 2019 - 2022 I created original graphic designs, social media campaigns, video content and more for use in the department's official marketing and outputs.

After gradating I was hired as Project Assistant for the University of Glasgow Neurodiversity Network. From August 2022 to January 2023 I complied student and staff feedback to create accessible guides on Study Advice, Access to Work, DSA and more for the Neurodivergent community at UofG.

I joined RNIB Connect Radio in September 2022 as a Content Producer. In this role I research,  conduct, produce and edit interviews with members of the Blind and Partially Sighted community about diverse topics from life with Charles Bonnet Syndrome, to blind sport. I also schedule, script and present live radio including my own Saturday show 'The Weekend Connect' and conduct extended interviews with authors and voice actors for our Audiobook Show 'Read On'.

I spend my free time writing, performing and producing my own original Folk, Blues and Neo-Soul music. With one collab EP released, I'm currently producing a solo EP. I also write original poetry which I share on my instagram page (@parksandlarks) and self-published a collection named 'Before, during, after' in 2021.
